Woodnbone

acoustic music, literature, politics, culture

My first blog.  I will keep it short.

I suppose I will start with explaining the name of my blog: woodnbone.  As a guitar player, I am obsessed (perhaps to an unhealthy extent) with acoustic guitars.  I love everything about them:  their feel, their sound, their appearance.  It amazes me that these things made of wood and bone (the nut and saddle are often made of bone) can create sound — music — that the human ear finds so pleasing.

My obsession is not limited to guitars.  I feel the same toward other acoustic instruments — mandolins, fiddles, dobros, banjos, cellos, bass fiddles, ukes, etc.

Currently, I am the steward of several fine instruments:  Martin D-28 (2003), Martin D-18 (2005), Gibson J-45 (1959), Guild G-37 (1983), Gallagher G-45 (1983), and a Baby Tyalor (2001).  I also have a Deering Good Time Banjo II, a Gibson A-9 mandolin, a Gibson Hounddog Dobro Squareneck, and a fiddle.

I hope to post pictures at a later date if I can figure out how to do so.   Wish me luck;  I’m not at all confident that any live person will ever read this blog, let alone comment on its content.  Can you prove me wrong?
